Last night My Youth Pastor brought up an interesting topic. He had us ask ourselves about persecution and how we can bless those who persecute us! He has a valid point, because a lot of our reactions or just plain actions can depict things we don’t want to show. We can show Jesus is all of our actions and reactions. Matthew 5:10-12

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

We are often persecuted for our beliefs, who we are, and many other things. No being persecuted does not feel good, but it doesn’t mean we have to hurt ourselves by treating them the same way. God says Matthew 7:12

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

We can choose to ignore, forgive, or wish good on them. It can be silently forgiving and wishing/praying good on them. Or you can help them in class/work by writing things down from a class/meeting they missed. It can even be somebody you have never met and might never see again. Doesn’t have to be something huge could even just being a friend even when they don’t want one! Showing them Jesus in your actions even if it is small can show them love they have never seen. I’ve yelled and screamed at God in anger and he has still shown up when I would have been ignored by others. He loves unconditionally, but he also has his own way of punishing those who persecute others! Vengeance is not your’s or mine to take it is God’s to take, and he will handle it!
